The Event
Lean systems are acknowledgment as an effective approach to eliminate waste and ensure companies competitiveness. At first designed in the automotive industry, Lean systems practices and principles expanded into several segments, such as healthcare, airports, utilities and other areas of industry. Even though, the widespread dissemination of the systems, the construction of appropriate behaviours and development of necessary skills remain a difficult point to apply the Lean Systems.
GOAL
  • Explore the connection between knowledge, and business and academic practices around Lean principles and philosophy in order to promote learning and growth.

  • Intensify the development of Production/Industrial engineering in Brazil, highlighting topics related to the establishment of Lean in several sectors and segments.

  • Increase the exchange of information and ideas between undergraduates, professors, researchers, professionals and institutions.

  • Discuss the main topics on the field approaching aspects related to support Lean systems.

  • Create strategies for the integration of universities and businesses in order to promote growth and mutual learning.

Professor of the Graduate Program in Production Engineering - UFSC
Associate Professor in Production Engineering at Federal University of Santa Catarina, concluded his Post-Doctoral research in Production Systems, Doctor in Industrial Engineering (2012), Master of Science in Production Systems (2005), MBA in Business Administration (2007) and graduated in Mechanical Engineering (2003), all of them in Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS. Experienced in Production Systems and Quality Systems area and teached at UFRGS, ULBRA, PUCRS, UNOESC, FSG and ESADE Industrial Engineering post-graduate programs as an invited Professor. Moreover, Guilherme has worked for 12 years in the automotive industry with experience abroad in Mexico, England, USA and Uruguay. He is a member of the Production Systems Simulation Lab and Productivity and Continuous Improvement Lab.
Eduardo Cartaxo

Industrial Electronic Engineer from CEFET-PR, specialist in Industrial Administration from UFPR and Project Management from FGV. With over 25 years of experience in Lean / 6 Sigma, Supply Chain and Operations, he worked on projects related to reduction of inventory, lead time and costs, with improvement in performance and quality. He carried out several projects in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and USA. He held positions of Production Engineer at Siemens, Lean Manufacturing Coordinator at Tritec Motors, Lean Manufacturing Manager, Industrial Engineering and JIT Production in Peguform, Operations Manager at Taxon Technology. Currently he holds the position of Office Manager AMBE Engineering, an American company of Consulting on Productivity and Quality Improvement.

Food Engineer graduated at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), MBA in Business Management from FGV and expertise in Six Sigma - Black Belt. She coordinated implementation and sustainability of Lean philosophy in BRF in different units / meat processing and others. She participates in the development of goals and in the management of performance indicators (KPIs). She supports the integration of Lean with Six Sigma, in the pursuit of zero loss to improve performance in the manufacturing process and energy efficiency.

Tarcisio Abreu Saurin
Professor of the Graduate Program in Production Engineering - UFRGS
Postdoc at the University of Salford (2012), PhD in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2002), master's degree in Civil Engineering                                      the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1997), Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Maria (1994). Since 2005 is a professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in the Department of Production and Transportation Engineering. His main areas of interest are lean production systems, security management and production of complex systems. These issues, has coordinated applied research projects, training and consulting with companies of health care sectors, manufacturing, construction, distribution and generation of electricity These activities include financial support from private companies and / or funding agencies research, such as FINEP, CNPq, FAPERGS and CYTED.

It has over 21 years experience in the production area, 16 of these in the current company. It was owned partner of RS furniture industry. It is responsible for industrial operations, start-ups of new plants and development projects, and other related activities. Major challenges experienced in the automotive startup sewing plant and startup of a technological plant plastic RJ.

Paulo Ghinato

Paul Ghinato is Phd. Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Kobe University - Japan, Master in Production Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering from UFRGS, accumulating more than 30 years of industry experience, as Executive, Expert and Consultant. Ghinato began his "Lean Journey" for nearly 25 years, four of which were spent in Japan. His experience with Lean System involves more than 5,000 hours of kaizen activities and hundreds of hours of coaching with the Presidents, CEO's and senior executives in various organizations in Brazil and abroad. Ghinato has outstanding academic achievement, teaching, researching and guiding students in master's and doctoral several Graduate Programs in Industrial and Management Engineering. - Papers may be submitted in abstract or business cases template.
- Abstracts and cases will be submitted exclusively by submission system, no later than 23:59 (local time in Brasilia) of 25 April 2016;
- The publication of approved abstracts and cases will only be done through registration of at least one of the authors and confirmation of fee payment in the VI Lean Systems Conference 2016, to the established deadline 20 May 2016.
- It will not be accepted any alterations in papers submitted, after the end of the submission process.
- Both (abstracts and cases) may have up to 5 authors;

ABSTRACT
Aligned with the system POMS (Production and Operations Management Society) authors interested in submitting papers in this mode the VI of Lean Systems Conference, selection of papers is exclusively for abstracts. The full article submission is an action to authors who, along with the selected abstract, wish to include the full paper in the annals of the event.
- It will not be accepted any alterations in papers submitted, after the end of the submission process
- Both may have up to 5 authors;
FORMATTING ABSTRACT
- Abstract must be sending as “.pdf” form, up to 2mb;
- The abstract body should have up to 400 words and respect formatting rules available in the template provided, under penalty of being disregarded. (not valuated)
- It will only be accepted for evaluation abstracts that fits one of the areas of the VI Lean Systems Conference and follow the formatting model articles provided by the event;
- Abstracts must be original and authorship by the authors for publication in the VI Lean Systems Conference. Responsibility for originality and authorship is exclusively of the author, under penalty of not being allowed future presentations in the Lean Systems Conference or others legal sanctions that apply. The organisation of the Lean Systems Conference condemns actions that may be considered copying, plagiarism or equivalent;
